Why I Believe in Craft for Connection
Why I Believe in Craft for Connection
Over the past few years, Fox and Felt has grown and changed in ways I never expected. What began as a simple love of wool and needle felting turned into something far deeper - a way of finding calm, of expressing myself, and of connecting with others who feel the same pull towards quiet creativity.
But lately, I've noticed something.
Workshops have been smaller. the world feels faster. And yet, underneath that noise, the same longing remains - to make something with our hands and to feel a little more grounded while we do it.
That's why I've decided to centre Fox and Felt around something simple but powerful: Craft for connection.
Because crafting, at its heart, isn't just about making something pretty. It's about reconnecting - to ourselves, to each other and to that steady part of life that doesn't need to rush or prove anything.
Making as a Way to feel
When I sit down with wool and a needle, I'm reminded how soft things can soften me too. The repetitive motion, the sound of the needle, the colours and textures - they slow my thoughts, calm my breathing and bring me back to the now. And when I share that process, whether in a workshop or online, I realise how many of us are craving the same feeling: gentle, unhurried connection.
